Guitar World 16th International Musical Festival will be held in Kaluga from May 27 through May 31, 2013.

This is one of the most important music events in Kaluga Region and the main guitar music festival in Russia. The five unforgettable days filled with music played by musicians from 19 countries of the world will become a unique experience for Kaluga Region residents and guests.

This year Kaluga welcomes guests from Austria, Argentina, UK, Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Georgia, Denmark, Spain, Cuba, Canada, USA, Czech Republic, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, France. For many musicians, this will be the first performance in Russia, and they will play only in Kaluga!

On the festival eve, on May 13, 2013, Music Teacher's Dreams, a major movie about the festival, will be presented at Tsentralny Movie Theater by its director, Evgeny Gorin. The movie has already been included in the official selection of a number of international film festivals.

Kaluga residents and guests will enjoy not only night shows, but also traditional day-time concerts.

May 25, 2013, 17:00.  The festival presentation, City in the Shades of Blues, will take place аt Teatralnaya Square. Levan Lomidze and The Blues Cousins (Russia), Leszek Cichoński (Poland) and Kaluga bands, Out of Style and ElectricLyudiLand. 

May 27, 2013, 18:30. The tradition orchestra opening of the festival will be held in the Concert Hall, where a number of new compositions for guitar and orchestra will be presented for the first time in Russia. Participants: MUSICA VIVA Moscow Chamber Orchestra; director - Filipp Chizhevsky (Russia); Dmitry Illarionov - soloist, a renowned Russian classic guitar player; Katona Twins - Hungarian guitar duet;  Henrik Andersson (Denmark); Ainur Begutov, a young guitar player from Kazan, seven-string guitar (Russia).

May 28, 2013, 14:00.  Obraz Gallery: for the first time in Russia - Duo Umbral duet from Uruguay. On the same Los Romeros, a world-renowned family quartet from Spain, will perform in the Concert Hall (18:30).

May 29, 2013, 14:00. Obraz Gallery: for the first time in Russia - Dale Kavanagh (Canada-Germany), Quito Gato - romantic guitar (Argentina-Belgium).  On the same day at the Concert Hall (18:30): a phenomenal virtuoso guitarist Stanley Jordan, a tapping expert, and his trio (USA); a legendary British Acoustic Alchemy jazz band, which has been topping jazz charts for over 20 years and wins GRAMMY awards; a joint project by the outstanding musicians from five countries – GRAMMY-winning Charlie Bisharat, a renowned guitar player from the Eastern Europe Roman Miroshnichenko, Mario Olivares, bass guitar player Dominique Di Piazza, percussionist Gumbi Ortiz (USA-Ukraine-Mexico-France-Cuba).

May 30, 2013, 14:00 Obraz Gallery: Duo Kirchhov duet (Germany). At 18:30 a concert of Dutch musicians will begin at the Concert Hall (2013 is the Year of the Netherlands in Russia).   There is a great number of Dutch musicians who follow the great Django Reinhardt. This year in the breathtaking show Rock Django & Django Jazz  the young generation of the Rosenbergs, Paulus Schafer Gipsy Band, masterful violinist Tim Kliphaus and accordion player Dominique Paats will take part. This will be a night of enchanting, virtuoso and astounding gypsy manouche music!

May 31, 2013, 14:00 Obraz Gallery: Guitar4mation quarter presents The Names show (Austria-Czech Republic-Poland).

At 18:30 the official closing ceremony will take place at the Concert Hall.  Jose Fernandez Torres, a king of flamenco known to the world as Tomatito will play the Spanish music.
