An official ceremony dedicated to commissioning of a new wet pet food shop at Nestle Purina PetCare plant (Nestle Russia branch) was held on may 16, 2013 in Vorsino industrial park in Kaluga Region.

The ceremony was attended by Anatoly Artamonov, Kaluga Region Governor, Maurizio Patarnello, Nestle Russia CEO, Marco Settembri, Nestle Purina PetCare Europe CEO and other Nestle top officials.

The new shop is the third production facility at Nestle Purina PetCare plant. The construction began in September 2011 and was completed in less than two years. Nestle invested about RUR 1.4 billion in this project. Over 50 new jobs were created to operate the shop. After commissioning of the shop  Nestle Purina PetCare will increase wet pet food production by almost 75%.

Apart from that Nestle Purina PetCare expands its distribution capacity. The company will invest over RUR 1 billion in construction and equipment for the new facility. The warehouse with the  area of 27,000 m² may store about 57,000 packages. About 100 new jobs are to be created by October 2013 when the new Nestle Purina PetCare/ Nestle Russia distribution center  is buit.

Today Nestle Russia production facility in Vorsino employs 385 people.  

Marco Settembri said: "Today this is the largest European pet food production facility in Europe. We have transferred production of our  Felix, Friskies, Gourmet brands to this plant. We plan to become a major player in the Russian pet food market. That is why the plant located in Kaluga Region is the largest and the most modern in Europe. The construction was completed without a single incident. I would like to thank Kaluga Region authorities for this".

 

Note:

Nestle is a good corporate citizen of Kaluga Region. The plant sponsors Skazka kindergarten and implements a number of other corporate citizenship programs. In 2010-2013 the company granted hi-tech medical equipment and a modern ambulance vehicle for a total amount of over RUR 3.5 million to Borovsk municipal hospital.
