On December 28, 2018 a meeting of an expert council to review new applications from companies planning to become residents of Kaluga industrial special economic zone was held in Kaluga. The meeting was chaired by Vladimir Popov, Deputy Governor of Kaluga Region. An application submitted by Ekstruzionnye Tekhnologii i Konstruktsii OOO was reviewed and approved by the council. The company is to implement an investment project providing for production of extruded aluminum
The expert council consists of representatives of the Ministry for Economic Development of Kaluga Region, relevant ministries, government agencies and development institutions.
The company selected a land plot in Kaluga SEZ area located in Borovsk district. The plant is to manufacture over 7,000 t of extruded aluminum per annum. Total investments are to reach RUR 1,256.000.000.
The plant is to be commissioned in 2020, its products are to be used by automotive and construction industries.
Thus, taking into consideration the results of the recent expert council, Kaluga special economic zone has 17 residents, including one already operating company, namely, Agro-Invest OOO located at Lyudinovo site. The company operates greenhouses to produce vegetables around the year applying the most advanced and efficient technologies.
Kaluga SEZ consists of two sites located in Lyudinovo and Borovsk districts of Kaluga Region. It has an area of 1,042 ha. SEZ residents enjoy all benefits offered by Kaluga Region Government in terms of access to engineering, transport and business infrastructure, as well as federal tax breaks and customs preferences. Industrial development ensured by SEZ is to promote modernization of manufacturing facilities located in the southern and northern parts of Kaluga Region, and it is to create preconditions for development of hi-tech industry sectors.
