Kaluga Region and Russian Railways agreed to create railway infrastructure for Kaluga SEZ

On May 24, within the frame of XXII Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), a cooperation agreement was signed between Kaluga Region and Russian Railways OAO aiming to implement investment project. The project intends to build railway ensuring operations of Kaluga Industrial Special Economic Zone.  Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of Kaluga Region and Oleg Belozerov, Chief Executive Officer – Chairman of the Executive Board of Russian Railways OAO signed the appropriate document.

The agreement provides for cooperation of the parties in organizing cargo railway service between Lyudinovo-1 railway station of the Moscow Railway and the territory of Kaluga SEZ on the basis of public-private partnership. In particular, an option will be reviewed to conclude concessionary agreement to implement investment project aiming to create an engineering and manufacturing complex of non-public railway lines.

Planned volume of investments in implementing the project to create railway infrastructure for Kaluga SEZ will amount to approximately RUR 800 mln.
