Agro-Invest, First Resident of Ludinovo Special Economic Zone

On 26 May 2014 a stone laying ceremony of a greenhouse complex was held in Ludinovo Special Economic Zone in Kaluga region, which is expected to become the largest greenhouse complex in Central Federal District and will produce tomatoes, cucumbers and green vegetables all the year round.

The expected annual output of the complex is about 70,000 t. In 2015 the greenhouse complex is expected to produce over 10,000 t of vegetables. The project investments are estimated at RUR 13 billion. The company will offer over 1,200 jobs to local residents.

The complex has a total area of 237.8 ha while the greenhouses are expected to occupy 87 ha of it. Late this year the initial construction phase is expected to be completed and a 20 ha area of the complex will be put into operation. First vegetables will be harvested and distributed to retailers before mid-2015.

The company employs most advanced greenhouse production technologies of vegetables, including 100% grow lights of up to 29,000 lx. At the initial construction stage a 37 MW power center and a sorting and packaging facility for finished goods will be set up.

‘With state-of-art high-tech equipment our greenhouse complex will be equipped with we will be able to produce up to four harvests per year. We reckon that in the first year of its operation the complex will be able to fully satisfy the demand of Kaluga region in fresh vegetables and drive imported tomatoes and cucumbers out of the market’, says Inna Golfand, Director  General of Agro-Invest.
