On October, 24th the delegation of Swiss automotive industry representatives visited Kaluga region. The guests had a chance to see the industrial parks "Grabtsevo", "Kaluga South", "Vorsino" and met Anatoly Artamonov, Governor of Kaluga region.

The delegation visited the transport and logistics complex "Freight Village Vorsino", the plants "Volkswagen Group Rus" and "Merkator Kaluga" where they met Governor of Kaluga region. The participants discussed the environment established in Kaluga region to shape the automotive cluster and the eventual opportunities for cooperation.

The Kaluga region automotive cluster involves 30 plants. Three of these plants are OEM manufacturers (Volkswagen, PCMA (Peugeot Citroën & Mitsubishi Alliance)  Volvo) and 27 plants produce parts. Higher localisation is the main cluster development trend. Therefore the region do its best to attract the parts manufacturers.

The involvement of "traditional" companies from Kaluga region in manufacturing chains was recognized logic. Both foreign partners and local companies are interested in further integration. The local companies that managed to confirm their production assets upgrade can expect tax priveleges. On top of that, more company spent on the equipment upgrade more tax benefits it can expect. The pool of traditional companies ready to cooperate with foreign business was established in the region. Cooperations and joined ventures proved to be the most efficient integration way.

Joint venture of AVTOCOM Group established on the basis of Kaluga electronic factory (KZAE) and the world parts manufacturing leader from Spain Cie-Automotive is an example. "CIE-AVTOCOM" supplies window washing systems, plastic parts, electromagnetic switches, voltage adjusters and lattin parts to Kaluga plants of Visteon, FAURECIA and Lear. They are in their turn the 1 layer suppliers to provide the finished pieces to Volkswagen Rus, PCMA Rus, moscovite Avtoframos and Ford plants in Vsevolzhsk and Elabuga.

The example of cooperation is Sherdel Rus that not only established its own plant but also places orders to Kaluga company "Elicor". On top of that "Elicor" cooperates with multinational parts supplier Faurecia. Faurecia supplies interior parts and exhaust systems for some models of VW, Peugeot and Citroen. Having its own powder painting line and metalwork shop "Elicor" performs some works for Faurecia.
