On April 6, Vladimir Popov, Deputy Governor of the Kaluga Region, presented a strategy for the development of industrial tourism. The presentation was held as part of the finals of the All-Russian Industrial Tourism Accelerator, which takes place in Kaluga.

The document offers the optimal route for the development of the industry and the region as a whole. It will further become one of the important sections of the regional Tourism Development Strategy until 2030, which development is being finalized.

As Vladimir Popov noted in his report, the potential for the development of industrial tourism in the Kaluga Region is enormous. There are more than three thousand industrial enterprises operate in the region. About 300 of them are large and medium. Some enterprises are already open for tourists. They conduct fascinating excursions and organize museum expositions. The excursions to Bosco are one of the most interesting cases. Manufactures are not only visited by over a thousand tourists annually, but organize specialized forums. EkoNiva conducts unique excursions in its production shops and special art spaces.

“Today’s program of excursions for schoolchildren already includes 20 routes. Their number is constantly growing together with the number of schoolchildren who visit the enterprises of the region with great interest. It’s worth noting that tours are popular with adults as well. It is planned to have at least 2.5 thousand visitors to Kaluga production facilities this year,” the Deputy Governor added.

In general, the regional government considers the development of industrial tourism as one of the mechanisms for improving the quality of life of every inhabitant. The progressive development of the industry will become a trigger for strengthening industrial potential, developing business ties, creating a modern career guidance system, developing infrastructure and increasing budget revenues.
