Kaluga Region Government to Conclude New Investments Agreements at Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019

Kaluga Region Government delegation headed by Anatoly Artamonov, Kaluga Region Governor, is to take part in Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 6-8, 2019.  Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum is a unique economic and business community event. The first forum was held back in 1997, starting from 2006 it is organized under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation, who has attended all forums.  The forum is a leading global venue for meetings of international business community and for discussions on key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and the world in general.  

The forum agenda consists of four major sections: Global Economy Searching for Balance,  Russian Economy Attaining National Development Objectives, Technologies Making the Future Closer, and Man above All. The main subject of the forum: Shaping Sustainable Development Agenda. 

Kaluga Region Delegation is to attend discussions and negotiations in all forum-specific formats, namely, meetings with partners, experts, global business leaders, leaders influencing global policy.     

Within the framework of business dialogues between Russian businessmen and the forum attendees from Austria, Germany, India, Italy, China, the USA, Finland, Sweden, France, Switzerland and African countries, the parties will discuss economic cooperation issues. The forum agenda also features business discussions between the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), events dedicated to cooperation between Russia and European countries, as well as cooperation between the CIS countries in the field of innovations.  Furthermore, the forum agenda also includes business breakfasts for banking, pharmaceutical and IT communities.   

Kaluga Region Government’s delegations has attended the forum since  2007. It is viewed both as a venue for discussions on acute subjects, and as a place, where business contacts are  established. Agreements on new projects’ implementation are the key outcome of business meetings. The Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum was the place where contracts with Samsung, Volvo, Novo Nordisk, Nestle and other companies were concluded in different years. New contracts with Tsentr-Trade and Staromikhailovski RPK on construction of new plants in Kaluga Region were signed in Saint Petersburg in 2018.  In 2019 it is planned to conclude new investment agreements on various projects’ implementation.  Negotiations are being held with companies representing food industry, industrial equipment, sanitary, hygienic, cosmetic and perfumery products’  manufacturers.   

SPIEF Investment & Business Expo is being traditionally held within the framework of the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. Kaluga Region infrastructure and innovative projects supporting the development of next generation and traditional economy production facilities are to be demonstrated at the Russian general exhibition. This year Kaluga region will present, for instance, its 12 industrial parks, Kaluga industrial special economic zone with the area of 1,042 ha (two sites), Kaluga transport and logistics system, Freight Village Vorsino (Freight Village RU) multimodal facility, unique structure services, One Belt – One Route project, industry clusters’ centers for technology competences. 

Almost eighty per cent of all new production facilities of Kaluga Region are located in 12 industrial parks. Over 200 investment projects are being implemented in Kaluga Region by companies from 30 countries of the world. 15 companies have become SEZ residents.  108 new plants have been commissioned since 2006, 10 industry clusters has been formed, including pharmaceutical, agroindustrial, automotive, transport and logistics, metal processing clusters as well as a cluster of composite and ceramic technologies and a cluster of construction materials.
