Kaluga Region Delegation Joins Business Mission to Japan

The 7th annual business mission of the Association of Industrial Parks to Japan will take place on May 13-17, 2019. The list of the Russian participants includes representatives of industrial parks, special economic zones, governments of the Russian regions, regional development corporations, construction, design and consulting companies searching for cooperation partners.  Nikolay Andreev, Director General of the Agency for Regional Development of Kaluga Region, and Vladislav Samsonov, Director General of the Kaluga Region Development Corporation, are members of the Kaluga Region delegation.  

The business mission is to promote the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Japan, as well as to expand the pool of joint Russian-Japanese investment and technology projects.    

The business mission agenda includes Production Localization – Business Development Tool for Japanese Companies Operating in Russia investment seminar, a visit to KBIC biomedical cluster as well as visits to Japanese industrial sites.  

It is worth mentioning that an automotive industry investment project of PSA Peugeot-Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation alliance (PSMA Rus OOO) is being implemented in Kaluga Region. Mitsubishi Motors holds a 30% share in this alliance. Toyota Tsusho Rus OOO has established a warehousing facility to supply automotive components (car bumpers) to   PSMA Rus plant. 

The first test batch of cargo from Japan to Russia via Trans Siberian railway was delivered to Freight Village Vorsino container terminal, Kaluga Region, on September 3, 2018. The test shipment was organized upon an agreement between Russian Railways OAO  and the Ministry of Transport of Japan on increase of the scope of Japanese products on multimodal routes via Russian Far East ports and Trans Siberian railway.
