Kaluga Region is on the list of regions with the highest sustainability rating, holding the 1st place in the rating  prepared by Peterburgskaya Politika Foundation.

According to experts the following positive events has taken place: the first Volvo excavator production facility in Russia has been opened; a new Nestle Purina PetCare wet pet food shop and a Finnish Metsä Tissue tissue plant have been commissioned in Vorsino industrial park; The first batch of steel has been produced at NLMK-Kaluga plant; Business Development Center has been opened in Kaluga; Kaluga Region has won the Most Investment Attractive Region Award at German-Russian Modernization Partnership Congress  (Berlin); a memorandum on cooperation in the field of trade and economy has been signed between Kaluga Region and Serbia; Volkswagen Kaluga plant management has fulfill the demand of  Automotive Industry Trade Union (MPRA)  to abide by the Russian labor legislation.  

Experts of the Foundation also noted the proposal of Kaluga Region Governor Anatoly Artamonov to correct the existing tax policy   imbalance between the federal government and Russian regions - currently only 35% of taxes are retained by regions. Anatoly Artamonov believes that the proportion should be  50:50.
