The special economic zone of industrial type "Lyudinovo" is renamed as the special economic zone of industrial type "Kaluga". On the 21st of September under the business meeting with the members of the Government of Kaluga Region Alexei Laptev, the first Deputy Governor, announced it. The corresponding changes were made with reference to the annexation of the territory of Borovsk district to the special economic zone "Lyudinovo". In such a way, the special economic zone "Kaluga" is placed on two sites, situated on the territory of Lyudinovo and Borovsk districts of Kaluga Region.  

On the 16th of April the Chair of the Government of the RF Dmitry Medvedev signed a governmental decree about the extension of the special economic zone by means of including the site of Borovsk district. The new site of 432 ha, located in close vicinity to the source of scientific and human potential – Obninsk science city, and near the enterprises of Vorsino Industrial Park, modern multimodal logistics centre «Freight Village» and the airport «Ermolino», - became the unique offer for investors.

The special economic zone "Kaluga" is the nearest industrial site of such a format to Moscow.

The territory of the special economic zone "Kaluga" is 1042 ha. On its territory there’s a special regime for business activity, an access to the engineering, transport and business infrastructure. The special economic zone is provided with federal and regional tax incentives and customs preferences, in particular, tax benefits on the ground, wealth, profit and transport. For some types of activities the absence of regional taxes from 5 up to 10 years is provided as well. The SEZ residents from a legal point of view are absolutely protected and have an opportunity to use all possible benefits.

The industrial development within the confines of SEZ will allow to modernize the industrial production of the South and North territories of Kaluga and to provide necessary conditions for the development of high-tech industrial sectors.

In Kaluga Region there’re 10 industrial parks, the square of which is about 6 000 ha, and the special economic zone "Kaluga", the square of which is 1042 hа. On the territory of the region more than 150 investment projects from 30 countries are being realized now. More than 10 modern industrial clusters, in particular, automotive, pharmaceutical, transport and logistics, agricultural, metalworking and of building materials ones.
