A presentation of investment potential of a number of Russian Regions is to take place in  Paris and Lyons, France, on April 25-26, 2016 under the auspices of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Vladimir Popov, the Minister for Economic Development, will deliver a presentation of Kaluga Region.

The visit agenda provides for meetings with French national and regional authorities, businessmen and top managers of major  industrial facilities. The attendees are to discuss the future of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and France, including the development of interregional relations as well as joint hi-tech projects.    

Kaluga region has well-established economic, investment and cultural ties with France. Kaluga Region – France trade turnover in 2015 equaled US$ 106.1 million. France accounts for about 3% of Kaluga Region total foreign trade turnover.

A number of world-renown French companies implement their projects in Kaluga Region, including  PSMA Rus, a joint venture of   PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors, and Faurecia Group auto component production facilities. Apart from automotive industry French companies also invest in the construction industry projects. In May 2014 Lafarge Group commissioned its new concrete plant in Kaluga Region. L’Oreal, a major cosmetics manufacturer, has built a plant in Vorsino industrial park. Kaluga Region businesses cooperate with GEFCO, a logistics and transportation services provider (a TOP10 European logistics company).

Kaluga Region also cooperates with France in the pharmaceutical field at a regional level.  Kaluga pharmaceutical cluster is an active member of Eurobiomed, the largest  pharmaceutical cluster of France, implementing joint projects in the field of diagnostics means development.
