On October 28, Kaluga welcomed a delegation from the Yangzhou Professional College (China). During their business visit, Chinese delegates visited the YAPP Rus Automobile Systems automotive fuel system manufacturing plant and the K.E. Tsiolkovsky Kaluga State University.
The Yangzhou Professional College and Kaluga State University signed a memorandum on cooperation. Signatures under the document were placed by Kaluga State University’s principal Maxim Kazak and the principal of Yangzhou Professional College Zhou Shen. The parties have agreed on scientific and educational cooperation, specifically, joint educational projects, internships and teacher and student exchanges.
Maxim Kazak pointed out that Kaluga State University was already implementing joint educational projects with Chinese partners. “We intend to strengthen existing ties and build a foundation for new directions of collaboration”, he said.
Kaluga Region and China are connected by many years of trade, economic and investment cooperation. Kaluga Region was chosen for their production facilities by Chinese automotive companies Yapp Rus Automotive System (manufacturer of fuel systems for passenger cars) and Fuyao Glass Industry Group (automotive glass manufacturer).
Apart from establishing their own production, Chinese companies supply equipment to innovative facilities like the Lafarge cement plant – the biggest of its kind in Russia. Petra-Haihua reconstructed the runway of the Kaluga International Airport. Chinese organizations collaborate with the region’s scientific and educational institutions, and further opportunities are being investigated for cooperation in the sphere of railway and air transportation.
On October 14, 2015, Kaluga Region’s delegation visited Beijing to participate in the Russia-China EXPO 2015 using the opportunity to sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Chinese Federation of Building Materials that documented the parties’ intentions to develop mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation.
