Kaluga Automotive Cluster May Be Included in the Register of Industrial Clusters of the Ministry for Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation

A working meeting dedicated to creation of an automotive industry cluster was held in Kaluga on March 19, 2020.

The meeting was organized by the Agency for Innovative Development in cooperation with the Association of Clusters and Technology Parks of Russia.  Volkswagen Group Rus LLC and the development institutions have discussed a proposal to form Kaluga Region automotive industry cluster  so that it could be included in the relevant register of the Ministry for Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Andrey Shpilenko, Director, Association of Clusters and Technology Parks of Russia, delivered a speech on industrial clusters successfully operated in the Russian Federation, specific features of cluster cooperation models‘ creation and functioning. He also covered inductrial clusters‘ functioning issues. Th attendees also discussed support measures provided by the federal government as wellas requirements to projects, which seek financial support.

A joint business plan was developed following the discussions. Volkswagen Group Rus LLC is to become the core of the cluster, and the key objective of the new entity is to be the attraction of financial means for joint projects, cooperation between companied within Kaluga Region, as well as investors‘ attraction.   The Association of Clusters and Technology Parks of Russia will provide comprehensive methodological support to introduce the  Kaluga Region automotive industry cluster  to the  Register of Industrial Clusters of the Ministry for Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
