МАА-2014: Kaluga’s Automotive Cluster and a Parade of Novelties from the Regional Pandora Brand

On August 28, the International Assembly of the Automotive Industry (MAA-2014) started at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center in Moscow. The event program includes the II International Forum of Local Suppliers of Automotive Components. The agenda – forecasts and analysis of progress in the implementation of the strategy for development of the Russian automotive market.

Dmitry Abramov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Kaluga Region, participated in the panel session “Industrial Potential of Regions”. He spoke about the opportunities for establishment of automotive component production in Kaluga Region and the cluster development system that is a key element of the region’s economic strategy. “One of the most promising directions in the cluster concept is the development of automotive production. Today, our region is among the top three automotive industry leaders in Russia by output”, said Dmitry Abramov.

Kaluga Region’s industrial parks house production facilities belonging to three OEM manufacturers - Volkswagen, PCMA (Peugeot Citroën & Mitsubishi Alliance) and Volvo. Their presence logically resulted in the development of a pool of component manufacturers, with 27 companies already having arrived to the region.

On August 29, Crocus Expo will open its doors to all those willing to attend the main automotive event of the year – the Moscow International Automobile Salon. Kaluga Region will be represented by the Kaluga Experimental Instrument-Engineering Factoryone of the leaders of the Russian and global car security market. Apart from Pandora car alarm systems, the Kaluga-based company will demonstrate its (Smart Watch)-Pandora RW-02 – a novelty specially developed for ММАС-2014, with a built-in Glonass/GPS receiver and the ability to control and interact with the car alarm system and the vehicle itself. The product is unique for the Russian car security market.
