On September 15, 2014 modern waste treatment facilities were commissioned at Samsung plant located in Vorsino industrial park. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Alexey Laptev, First Deputy Governor of Kaluga Region, Vladimir Zhipa, Minister for Natural Resources, Environment and Urban Development, and Li Sang Su, Director General, Samsung Electronics Rus Kaluga.
Samsung invested US$ 10 million in construction of the waste treatment facilities with the area of 1,865 sq.m. The waste treatment facilities have been built in 8 months. The most modern technologies are employed at the facilities having the capacity of 300 cubic m per day (the capacity may be increased to 600 cubic m).
Li Sang Su noted that the waste treatment facilities’ construction project had been implemented to ensure compliance with the Russian environment protection legislation requirements. The most innovative technologies have been applied to protect environment in the areas adjacent to the plant territory. He said: “We feel great responsibility for the environment of Kaluga Region”.
