The Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Congratulates Volkswagen on the Production of its 700,000th Vehicle

On November 26, the Volkswagen Group Rus plant at Grabtsevo industrial park celebrated a remarkable achievement – the output of its 700,000th vehicle. The event was attended by Kaluga Region’s Governor Anatoly Artamonov, the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil, the Chairman of the Volkswagen concern Martin Winterkorn, the General Director of Volkswagen Group Rus Markus Ozegovich and others.

Martin Winterkorn said that the concern intends to invest EUR 1.2 billion into the Russian economy until 2018. “Russia will become the first automobile market in Europe in the near term. And Kaluga Region will play a key role in this”, added Volkswagen’s Chairman of the Board.

Stephan Weil: “I am surprised how the plant managed to achieve such a high level of production quality within such a short term. The business climate created in Kaluga Region should serve as an example for other regions. <…> Volkswagen Kaluga actively participates in personnel qualification development and training programs, and is a vivid example of a successful Lower Saxony business in Russia”.

In response, Anatoly Artamonov emphasized that the region will continue to develop an environment that is favorable for business to maximum possible extent.
