On October 24, Kaluga Region will be visited by a delegation of Swiss auto component manufacturers. Their program includes a meeting with Governor Anatoly Artamonov, visits to industrial parks Grabtsevo, Kaluga-South, Vorsino and their resident companies Volkswagen Group Rus LLC and Mercator Kaluga LLC as well as a visit to Freight Village Vorsino logistics center.
At the meeting with Anatoly Artamonov, the delegates will discuss conditions created in the region for the development of the automotive cluster and trends prevailing in the regional automotive industry.
Kaluga Region’s automotive cluster is represented by 30 companies, including 3 OEM manufacturers (Volkswagen, PCMA (Peugeot Citroën & Mitsubishi Alliance) and Volvo) and 27 component manufacturers.
Integration of Kaluga’s “traditional” enterprises into automotive production chains is only natural. This integration is a matter of interest both for local manufacturers and foreign partners. The most efficient forms of integration are joint ventures and cooperation.
One of the examples of such cooperation is the joint venture between AVTOKOM Group and Spanish company Cie-Automotive, a global leader in auto component manufacturing; their joint venture is based on the Kaluga Plant of Electronic Products (KZAE). Today, the newly created CIE AVTOCOM supplies window washing systems, plastic accessories, relays, voltage controllers and latten alloy products to Kaluga-based plants Visteon FAURECIA and Lear. In turn, these companies, being first-level suppliers, supply finished products to VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus and PCMA Rus as well as the Moscow-based Avtoframos plant and Ford plants in Vsevolozhsk and Elabuga.
A good example of cooperation is supplier Sherdel Rus that not only established its own plant, but also places orders with local company Elikor. Elikor cooperates with international auto component manufacturer Faurecia. Faurecia supplies interior elements and exhaust systems for certain models of VW, Peugeot and Citroen. Elikor has a powder coating line and a metalwork shop and performs certain works for Faurecia.
