The Initiative to Create a Technological Valley in the Kaluga Region is Supported by the Russian Government
The Russian government has supported the initiative to create a scientific and technological valley in Obninsk. The decree on the creating the Innovative Scientific and Technological Center “Park of Atomic and Medical Technologies” specializing in nuclear research and nuclear medicine was signed by Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Russia.
The center is a joint project of NRNU MEPhI, Rosatom State Corporation, Kurchatov Institute and the Government of the Kaluga Region. An innovative scientific and technological center will be created in Obninsk.
According to Vladislav Shapsha, Governor of the Kaluga Region, this project is important for the region and will, in the long run, raise investment of about 20 billion rubles and create about 1,000 jobs.
The main directions of scientific and technological activities of the center are nuclear research and development, nuclear medicine, information and communication technologies, new materials and laser technologies.
