On July 26, 2013 Governor Anatoly Artamonov attended the official ceremony dedicated to opening of Sputnik 220 kV substation in Kaluga.
The facility has been totally revamped. As a result its capacity has increased by 135 MVA to reach 500 MVA. Innovative materials and technologies have been extensively used in the course of the revamping. The revamped substation will ensure more reliable power supply both to Kaluga and a number of Kaluga Region districts, namely, Babynino, Meschovsk and Dzerzhinsky District.
Speaking of Kaluga Region power sector development Governor Anatoly Artamonov noted that the commissioning of such major plants provided wider opportunities for power supply for social, residential and production facilities and created favorable conditions for Kaluga Region industrial and economic growth.
