Fuyao Glass Rus Launches the Biggest Glass Manufacturing Plant in Kaluga Region

On September 7, one of the most spectacular opening ceremonies to date was held in Kaluga Region. Fuyao Glass Rus launched its new glass manufacturing plant in Grabtsevo Industrial Park.

Total investments in the plant are EUR 200 million. There are plans to create 5,000 jobs. Two workshops have already been built and equipment is being installed to manufacture laminated and tempered automotive glass. Float-glass – material for automotive glass production – will initially be imported from Chinese enterprises; however, since the Kaluga project promises to be a big success, the company has already decided to build a float-glass producing facility and launch complete cycle production.

Maxim Akimov read out the message from Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Russian Government: “This Fuyao Glass Industry project will cooperate with virtually all global car manufacturers. Worth over RUR 10 billion, it is of great significance not only for Kaluga Region, but for the entire national automotive industry. Even at the initial stage of the plant’s operation, more than 300 jobs will be created. The plant will manufacture products meeting global quality requirements”. On his own behalf, Maxim Akimov added that he never doubted that the best Chinese company would come to Russia. “Kaluga Region is the best place for investments”.
