Vladimir Popov, the Minister for Economic Development of Kaluga Region, Georgy Rotov, Continental Kaluga OOO Director General, and Uwe Marbasch, Project Manager for construction of an automotive hose production facility, attended the official ceremony dedicated to the beginning of Continental production facility equipment testing in Rosva industrial park on January 24, 2013.

The new production facility with the initial capacity of 4 million tires per annum is to be commissioned at the end of 2013. Total investments in the projects amount to EUR240 million. The plant will produce tires under Continental, Gislaved and Matador brands.

"We plan to continue expanding our production facility, as the Russian automotive market is highly promising and demonstrates steady growth. In the future we plan to increase the output to 16 million tires per annum", Georgy Rotov said. In his speech Continental Kaluga OOO Director General also noted that apart from the tire production facility ContiTech, another Continental division, would build its own plant on the same site to produce hoses for motor vehicles. Planned investments in the project equal EUR13 million.
