alternative fuel shop is commissioned

Plant operated by Lafarge Group was built in Ferzikovo District, Kaluga Region.

Design capacity of the plant is 2 mln tons of cement per year. More than 500 jobs were created.

Volume of investments into the project amounted to Euro 500 mln. The facility is a dry-line cement plant, which means 2.5 times less energy than conventional technologies. There is an option of using alternative fuel (AF) at the plant; the plant intends to achieve 45% share of AF usage by 2020, thus contributing noticeably to the preservation of non-renewable natural resources and the improvement of environmental situation in the region.

“This is the biggest investment by Lafarge in Russia.”

André Martin, Chairman Lafarge Group Russia

“I congratulate you not only with the opening of this outstanding plant, but also with the event, which is a spectacular example of successful international cooperation between Russia and France. Within the shortest delays, a modern plant was commissioned, for which innovative and environment-friendly technologies were used. This is an advanced project from the point of energy efficiency.”

Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
