“I am convinced that under present conditions leadership at the Russian market is determined, first of all, by the development of the company industrial presence. And today we open one more page in production history of Volvo Group in Russia. New cab welding and painting plant is one more step in increasing local content of our production. By 2018 we plan to achieve 45% local content level. It is really a new height. Our cooperation between Volvo Group plants in Kaluga will enable us to be even closer to our clients and to offer products of the highest quality made in Kaluga”.
Peter Andersson, CEO, Volvo Group Russia
Several projects of Volvo Group are implemented in Kaluga-Yug Industrial Park at the territory of Kaluga Region:
Assembly of Volvo models: Volvo FH, Volvo FM, Volvo FL, Volvo FE.
Assembly of Renault models: Renault Premium, Renault Kerax.
Volvo Production System is implemented at Volvo plant based on lean production concept; Volvo Quality System is also applied based on the audit of final products.
To date, Volvo Plant in Kaluga is the most modern Volvo Trucks plant in the world.
ZAO "Volvo Vostok" became the first foreign manufacturer of cargo handling equipment, which started full-scale production in Russia.
Products of the plant are used to equip heavy trucks under Volvo and Renault brands manufactured at the neighboring plant.
Since the beginning of operations of the department, period of customs clearance per unit of cargo incoming to Volvo Vostok plant has been reduced from 2 days (in 2010) to 8.5 hours.
