Batch production of small-size crucibles for thermal analysis has been launched at Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise “Technologiya”

Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise “Technologiya” named after A.G. Romashin (part of Rostech) has started mass production of small-size ceramic crucibles for thermal analysis. The project was implemented with the purpose to substitute import products.

The enterprise’s production capacities will make it possible to manufacture 1,000 products per month and to fully meet the demand of Russian companies for these products in the nearest future.

Ceramic crucibles with a diameter of 6.9 mm (half the size of a penny coin) and a volume of only 85 mcl are made from corundum raw materials and are used as containers for samples under study during high-temperature thermoanalytic measurements, ensuring high accuracy of the results obtained. The products are chemical resistant and can withstand temperatures up to 1,700 С.

"This technology for the production of small-sized crucibles was developed by our specialists to conduct their own laboratory researches for import substitution. There is already an external demand for our crucibles. More than 50 institutes in the country use these products for research, and we are ready to fully meet the needs of Russian companies for these products," said Andrey Silkin, General Director of Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise “Technologiya”.

Small-size ceramic crucibles manufactured at Obninsk Research and Production Enterprise “Technologiya” named after A.G. Romashin are not inferior to their foreign counterparts in terms of their structural parameters and physical and technical characteristics, and their cost is two times lower than that of imported samples. In 2018, the development of small-size corundum crucibles for thermal analysis was awarded the diploma of the National Award "Priority-2018" in the field of import substitution.
