L’Oréal Plant in Kaluga Region Launches Production of Hand Sanitizer Gel

L’Oréal  plant located in Vorsino industrial park, Kaluga Region, launched production of hand sanitizer gel on April 22, 2020. The products are to be provided on a free of acharge basis to healthcare facilities and hospitals of Kaluga Region.  The company started producing the new product under  L’Oréal solidarity support program to combat coronavirus in Russia.     

Denis Manturov, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, and Vladislav Shapsha, Acting Governor of Kaluga Region, attended the official ceremony at the plant.
L’Oréal program is aimed at supporting various parties concerned, including hospitals and medical care workers being on the frontline of COVID-19 pandemic, pharmacists, personnel of retail chains supplying food to consumers, personnel of orphanages, and care homes as well as personnel on non-government organizations supporting socially vulnerable people, for instance, caring for elderly people who need this support now more than ever. 
L’Oréal Russia initiatives under the program:

  • Solidarity with medical care workers: La Roche-Posay brand to launch production of hand sanitizer gel to support doctors and pharmacists. Apart from that,  La Roche-Posay will also provide Lipikar Xerand hydrating cream to doctors. L’Oréal Paris brand also takes part in combat against COVID-19. It will provide 100,000 pieces of sanitizer gel to medical care workers risking their lives, who work in Russian hospitals treating patients with coronavirus.
  • Solidarity with partners from food retail chains: Garnier brand will supply and deliver on a free of charge basis  100,000 pieces of hand sanitizer gel to its Russian customers, food retail chains selling food and other essential goods to consumers. This is to help store personnel in those shops protect themselves following the regulations on precautions to be taken.   
  • Solidarity with small and medium businesses. Beauty parlors are among the most badly affected  companies. L’Oréal supports  beauty parlors and hairdressers by rendering continuous training and providing recommendations on how to maintain business during the quarantine and after the restriction measures’ lifting.
  • Solidarity with socially vulnerable people: L’Oréal Russia has taken a decision to provide shampoos, being a basic personal hygiene product, to Rus charity foundation free of charge.  The foundation supports under-privileged people, including elderly people living alone, be providing them with essential products. Apart from that L’Oréal catered for specific needs of people living in care homes and hospices by providing them with shampoos and hydrating balms through Starost v Radost and Vera charity foundations.  Such support is very essential under the current circumstances, when all means of these socially-oriented NGOs are used to ensure safety of their personnel and people they provide help to.
