REKAST launched production at Kaluga industrial park

Official opening ceremony Russia-Switzerland REKAST Company took place on June 21 in Kaluga-Yug industrial Park. The Company manufactures packing materials based on paper honeycomb fillers. The following persons attended the solemn ceremony: Mr. Pierre Helg, Ambassador of Switzerland in Russia, Mr. Alexei Nikitenko, Deputy Governor of Kaluga Region, Mr. Vladislav Gorlov, and Director of Recast JSC. 

The Company produces up to 8 mln. cubic meters packing honeycomb panels and items on their basis per year, volume of investments exceeded RUR 240 mln, 50 new jobs were created. 

REKAST is the first Russian manufacturer specialized in production of paper honeycomb fillers and also of packing materials on their basis. The products are mainly used in the following sectors: construction materials (internal doors, wall sound-suppression panels); furniture industry (furniture components); glass industry (separation lining for storage and transportation of flat polished glass, supports for fiberglass transportation); and also chemical and car-making industry, transportation and logistics, advertising industry. Worldwide trend of using packing materials subject to 100% recycling or disposal without harm to environment forces to look for alternative packing materials replacing wood and plastics. REKAS provides such alternative.

As Mr. V. Gorlov noted, this is already second investment project at the territory of Kaluga Region.  Manufactured products will be sold at the Russian market, in particular, in the Central Federal District. Full production is scheduled for 2017.  “We are representatives of small and medium business with 20 year history. We selected a site in Kaluga-Yug Industrial Park to launch our project. Thanks to assistance provided by the administration of Kaluga Region and conditions created here, we have possibility to further develop our business. We hope that in the near future Kaluga enterprises operating in pharmaceutical and car-making clusters will become our clients”, – Vladislav Gorlov explained.

Pierre Helg highlighted that the new project with participation of Swiss partners is another example of cooperation between two countries in innovative and industrial areas. “We can only welcome decisions of Swiss companies to work at the Russian market and to develop local production. Switzerland continues its activities in Russia despite complicated economic situation. We are guided by principles of direct and open dialog and we do not accept policy of sanctions”, – Pierre Helg summarized.  

Alexei Nikitenko, in his turn, noted that REKST Company is one of strategic investors in the region.  The company has more than half of the Russian market of honeycomb filler. “We are especially pleased by the fact that investors prefer our region. We are ready to provide further assistance to the development of partner relationship”, – Alexei Nikitenko said.

The enterprise was created in 1993; first production launched at leased production premises in Sosensky town, Kaluga Region.

The enterprise was modernized in 2004-2005; new automated process equipment was launched. At the same time new shareholders were invited and the enterprise becomes Russian-Swiss company.

In 2006-2007 new production building has been built with 3,000 sq.m surface in Sosensky town, Kaluga Region; production capacity was increased two-fold.

In 2015 volume of foreign trade between Kaluga Region and Switzerland amounted to US 7.4 mln. Volume of US 1.2 mln foreign trade was achieved in 1Q 2016.
